LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT Stormwater from rain or snowmelt from our parking lots will flow over the ground and carry pollutants into our streams, ponds, lakes and rivers. Surface water pollutants include sediments that choke fish in rivers and chemical pollutants that move into our drinking water supplies. Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) treat storm runoff to remove sediments and pollutants.
